While part of Shark Beauty’s Personal Care team, I headed the early-stage concept development for the second generation Auto-Wrap Curlers, shaping the system architecture that enabled hair to wrap automatically around the barrel. Working under tight constraints on brand, mechanism and manufacturing feasibility, I generated dozens of concepts and led user-testing and prototype validation to uncover the most effective solution.
The focus was on delivering effortless curls with minimal user effort: using air-flow dynamics and inlet geometry to feed hair gently into the curler, ensuring consistent wrap, minimal heat-damage, and comfortable styling. Through iterative prototypes and user feedback, we refined the mechanism to balance performance, manufacturability, and brand experience — providing Shark with a validated architecture ready for engineering hand-off.
